Harvest time..  How i love and hate this time of year.  So much work, so little time for relaxation.  Planting the yearly garden is something to look forward to but i confess to quickly losing interest once the real work starts.    Yes, i'm a big enough person to admit it..lol  4 Canner loads of Green beans later and i still have 5 jars that did not seal and the weight for the top of the pressure cooker is now broken, is it a coincidence??  don't know for sure..  But a new one is mandatory before any more processing can be done.  Not a terrible thing as a break sounds great right about now.  Tomorrow the puppy goes in for a day long x-ray bonanza, seriously hope they can figure out what's going on with his leg and it's not too terribly spendy to fix..  Mowing is on the agenda, mostly for Dandylions and the Septic drain area ..  A very hot and dusty job, i have no doubt, oh well, that's why i get paid the big bucks to stay at home and do it  (right, we all know housewives don't get paid shit..LOL!)  The inlaws stopped by this afternoon with not the expected one box of prunes, but 3 HUGE BOXES..  One was taken care of before dinner, the other two are tomorrow's fun..  Might see if my folks want any and save myself some work, or i could always feed them to the girls, chickens will eat just about anything i've learned..  Especially if you're willing to hand feed them..  We now are getting 8-9 eggs per day, there are 10 girls and one Rooster..  I confess to finding them totally fascinating to watch, never thought they'd bring so much enjoyment..and the fresh eggs, well..no need to buy them anymore, that's for sure..

  1. I love Chickens and Roosters.
We have one where I live that lives in the Staples parking lot. Everyone feed him and he sleeps in the tree. He gets lonely so they put up a mirror for him to look at himself in. He is so friendly and loves people.
He has had dogs, cats and even a Cougar try to get him but he still survives in down town Issaquah.

    1. I Love Chicken and Roosters too, but, Mine are all just in my decor in my kitchen. The neighbors next door have three in the modern day coop they keep them in and they give us the eggs. So it is nice they wanted to have something like that to play around with.
I Love your site in here. I have No idea HOW to do stuff like this. I wouldn't know where to start.
That's a neat story about the Rooster.
      Have a Great Weekend~!!

  2. Our Rooster is the background photo on this blog.. Hawk..he is a character indeed and i'm not the least surprised that your rooster in the parking lot gets lonely, ours will follow you worse than the dogs do..LOL They just need people and are usually so friendly if handled early enough..cute story..
